Solutions package
Mechanised Tunnelling Package
A TBM-led equipment package for tier-1 civils tendering metro, rail, road, water and headrace tunnels in Australia. The package pairs the primary shield to the ground with a cross-passage cutting method, shaft-sinking plant for launch, intervention and station shafts, and a continuous muck-haulage train from face to surface. Probe-and-pre-support drilling pairs with intelligent grouting plant for annular and consolidation duties. A secondary-lining train and a radar acceptance vehicle close out cross-passage and station-box scope. FRP fit-out covers permanent works in chloride or stray-current environments. The shield envelope on offer covers the full CRCHI range, from small-diameter metro EPB and slurry shields up to mega-bore machines for road and river-crossing alignments.

Who it's for
Tier-1 civil contractors tendering metro, rail, road, water and headrace tunnels using TBM-led methodology in Australia.
When to specify this package
- Twin-bore alignments over 3 km with multiple cross-passages and shafts.
- Mixed urban ground, water-bearing strata, or harbour and river crossings.

Scope of supply
Primary excavation
Match the shield to ground conditions along the drive: closed-face for soft and water-bearing strata, mixed-mode where the alignment changes, and hard-rock shields for long competent-rock drives.

Tunnel Boring Machines
Slurry TBM
Closed-face slurry-circulation shield for water-bearing soft ground and harbour or river crossings.

Tunnel Boring Machines
EPB TBM
Earth-pressure-balance shield for clay, sandy soil and mixed urban face conditions.

Tunnel Boring Machines
Multi-mode TBM
Convertible shield for alignments where ground conditions change mid-drive.

Tunnel Boring Machines
Dual-mode TBM
Single-shield plus EPB in one machine for rock drives crossing soft fracture zones.

Tunnel Boring Machines
Single-shield TBM
Hard-rock segmental-lining shield for medium-length competent-rock drives.

Tunnel Boring Machines
Double shield TBM
Long hard-rock drive with segmental lining through good rock with intermittent weak zones.

Tunnel Boring Machines
Open-type gripper TBM
Long hard-rock drive with anchor-mesh shotcrete and cast-in-situ secondary lining.
Cross-passage excavation
Cross-passages connect twin running tunnels for egress, drainage and fire safety. Choose mechanised or sequential cutting based on count, geology and vibration limits.

Tunnel Boring Machines
Cross-Passage TBM
Mechanised repeatable cross-passage cuts launched through the main-tunnel segmental lining.

Tunnel Excavation & Support
Roadheader
Mechanical excavation in soft to medium rock; flexible geometry for niches and asymmetric crossings.

Tunnel Excavation & Support
Tunnel Drilling jumbo
Drill-and-blast excavation for short or hard-rock cross-passages; pairs with the charge-up rig.

Tunnel Excavation & Support
Drilling and splitting jumbo
Non-blast hydraulic-splitting option where vibration limits rule out explosives.
Shaft sinking
Launch, intervention, ventilation and station shafts. Select by depth, diameter and ground; both options run with surface-based crews and a small site footprint.
Muck haulage and conveying
On long urban drives the muck system limits advance rate. Run a continuous belt backbone with bridge transfer, shaft hoisting and surface-side run sized to the drive.

Tunnel Excavation & Support
Continuous belt conveyor
Tunnel-long backbone belt that follows the TBM with intermediate drives over distance.

Tunnel Excavation & Support
Bridge-type transfer belt conveyor
Long-span transfer belt behind the back-up that follows the lead-machine attitude.

Tunnel Excavation & Support
Vertical Belt Conveyor
Shaft hoisting belt for launch and intervention shafts.

Tunnel Excavation & Support
Large inclination corrugated side retaining belt conveyor
Steep-incline shaft belt where a vertical run is not viable.

Tunnel Excavation & Support
Fixed belt conveyor
Surface-side run from shaft head to stockpile, road truck or rail loadout.
Probe drilling, annular and consolidation grouting
Probe-ahead is drill the hole, then pump the grout. The drilling rig handles forward exploration and pre-support holes; the grouting plant covers probe, annular and consolidation duties with automated log capture for QA.

Tunnel Excavation & Support
Multi-function Drilling Rig
DGZ advance probe and pre-support drilling rig with optional MWD for forward geological forecasting.

Tunnel Excavation & Support
Intelligent Grouting Equipment
ZJS mixed and pumped probe, annular and consolidation grouting plant with automated log capture.
Cross-passage and shaft dust extraction
TBM workface dust is captured at the cutterhead and screw conveyor. Cross-passage, shaft and station-box drill-and-blast and shotcrete scope generate localised dust that needs a mobile collector.
Secondary lining, waterproofing, invert and curing
Cross-passages, niches, station boxes, junctions and any cut-and-cover scope run as drill-and-spray, membrane, reinforcement, invert pour and inner concrete lining. Run the train in sequence.

Tunnel Excavation & Support
Inverted arch bridge formwork
YDZQ invert pouring with open trestle bridge so face works run in parallel.

Tunnel Excavation & Support
Tunnel waterproof board laying formwork gantry
Membrane laying and secondary-lining reinforcement tying on a single platform.

Tunnel Excavation & Support
Tunnel Digital lining formwork gantry
Secondary-lining concrete pour with dual pouring system and crown-fill monitoring.

Tunnel Excavation & Support
Tunnel concrete Digital maintenance formwork gantry
Controlled-temperature, controlled-humidity curing of the secondary lining.
Secondary-lining QA acceptance (cross-passages, station boxes)
Non-destructive thickness, density and rebar-distribution checks across the secondary lining before track-bed works. The radar vehicle clears long alignments inside the testing window.
Permanent works fit-out (FRP)
Running-tunnel M&E fit-out sits in damp, electrically active and chloride-prone environments. FRP suits stray-current corridors and marine or groundwater-bearing strata where galvanised-steel design life is reduced.

FRP & Composite Materials
Fiber composite emergency evacuation platform
FRP emergency egress walkway with fire-retardant phenolic matrix; electrically isolating.

FRP & Composite Materials
Fiber Reinforced Composite Cable Supports
FRP cable supports for cable trenches, pipework and service vaults.

FRP & Composite Materials
Fiber Composite Cable Tray (Bridge)
FRP trough-section cable tray as a corrosion-free alternative to galvanised steel.

FRP & Composite Materials
Composite cable/tunnel trench cover
Composite trench and service-duct cover; lighter than concrete and electrically isolating.

FRP & Composite Materials
Fiber Reinforced Composite Pipe
FRP pipe for cable protection, ventilation and water or drainage in corrosion-prone environments.

FRP & Composite Materials
Fiber reinforced composite bars
Composite reinforcing bar for non-magnetic, marine or chloride-exposed permanent elements.
Engineering and R&D
CRCHI Australia brings full OEM engineering and R&D capacity to every package. Most catalogue equipment is configurable to project requirements; project-specific scope is engineered to brief; and where a project calls for it, a complete solution is developed from the ground up. Typical tailoring on TBM-led drives includes shield diameter, cutterhead geometry, segmental ring design, back-up arrangement and FRP fit-out moulds matched to the alignment and ground.
