Special-shaped TBM
Cross-Passage TBM
A cross passage is the lateral connection between two adjacent metro, rail or highway tunnels, providing connectivity, drainage and fire-safety functions, effectively 'tunnelling within a tunnel'. The CRCHI cross-passage TBM is a compact machine for this duty, sized to suit metro, rail and highway cross-passage geometries.

Features
Cuts main-tunnel segmental lining directly and efficiently
Fully sealed sleeve for both launch and reception
Pre-stressed reaction-frame support system
Highly integrated package optimised for tight working envelopes

Configuration and engineering
Every CRCHI TBM is engineered to project. Shield diameter, cutterhead geometry, drive power, segmental ring design and back-up arrangement are configured to the alignment, ground conditions and water pressure of the drive. Project-specific scope beyond the standard envelope is engineered to brief, and where a drive calls for it, a machine is developed from the ground up. CRCHI Australia is the engineering, commercial, commissioning and aftermarket point of contact for Australian projects.
