Shaft TBM
Open-Caisson Shaft TBM
The open-caisson shaft TBM is designed for shallow vertical-shaft works in water-rich strata. It is used for underground car parks, shield-launch shafts and stormwater storage shafts, sized across normal to mega-bore shaft diameters.

Features
High pressure capacity, designed for working pressures up to 8 bar
High construction safety: unmanned underground excavation with minimal surface personnel
High construction precision, with inclinometer and inclination-tube monitoring tracking attitude in real time, and hydraulic lifting trimming segment attitude
Compact ground footprint: a single-arm machine needs only a small surface work site, with surface plant configurable across roadways

Configuration and engineering
Every CRCHI TBM is engineered to project. Shield diameter, cutterhead geometry, drive power, segmental ring design and back-up arrangement are configured to the alignment, ground conditions and water pressure of the drive. Project-specific scope beyond the standard envelope is engineered to brief, and where a drive calls for it, a machine is developed from the ground up. CRCHI Australia is the engineering, commercial, commissioning and aftermarket point of contact for Australian projects.
